Let’s be honest:

If the enemy wanted to ruin your life, he wouldn’t show up in red horns and a pitchfork.
He’d show up as a push notification.
Or a perfectly filtered reel of someone else’s “soft life” while you’re three days deep into dry shampoo and living off Ding Dongs and anxiety.
He’d show up with distractions — not destruction.
Because if the devil can’t have you, he’ll settle for keeping you busy, comparing, scrolling, and spinning your wheels while your purpose takes a back seat to your phone battery.
📱 When the Scroll Becomes a Spiral
Somewhere between checking in on my people and checking out of my own life, I end up face-first in someone else’s highlight reel.
She’s doing more, doing it prettier, and somehow also has a matching kitchen utensil set and a husband who builds her seasonal porch displays.
Meanwhile, I’m over here Googling “how to organize my life when I am the chaos.”
What starts as curiosity becomes comparison.
What starts as a peek turns into a panic.
And before I know it, I’m three hours deep in Pinterest boards I’ll never recreate and Amazon carts I can’t afford — all while my purpose just quietly waits.
🧠It’s Not Always the Big Things
The devil doesn’t need to throw a major crisis your way to knock you off track.
Sometimes all he has to do is whisper, “Hey, what’s she doing that you’re not?”
And suddenly your peace evaporates, your purpose feels pointless, and you’re wondering if you need a whole new wardrobe, business plan, and personality by tomorrow morning.
The Bible says:
“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”— Hebrews 12:1
But how can I run my race if I’m constantly rubbernecking into someone else’s lane?
đź’ˇ The Realization (AKA the Mic Drop)
The devil doesn’t have to destroy you to distract you — he just has to convince you to chase a life that wasn’t meant for you in the first place.
And here’s the thing I’ve learned (the hard way, in a sweatshirt that says “Mentally Somewhere Else”):
Obedience > Aesthetic.
Presence > Perfection.
Purpose > Performance.
God doesn’t need you to be like her.
He needs you to be you — fully, faithfully, right here, even in the middle of your unfinished to-do list and emotionally questionable Amazon cart.
✝️ Let Your Focus Be Holy
Let’s keep it real — we’re human. We scroll. We spiral.
But we also have the power to stop, realign, and step back into the center of what matters.
When your eyes start drifting to what everyone else is doing, pull yourself back with this one simple truth:
“Fix your eyes straight ahead; set your gaze directly before you.” — Proverbs 4:25
Don’t let the devil use distraction as his favorite designer accessory.
He may not wear Prada — but he’s definitely been lurking in your screen time report.
