Let’s play pretend, shall we? Imagine a day where everything goes right. The coffee is strong (and sweet), the waistband of your favorite skort fits like it did in 2001, and your to-do list mysteriously disappears. That, my friends, is what I call the perfect day.
Let me walk you through it…
I wake up without an alarm. Not because I forgot to set it, but because my body is just that in tune with the rhythms of the universe (read: my bladder). The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and somehow… my hair is already doing what it’s supposed to. A miracle.
I stroll to the kitchen — no stubbed toe, no familiar puddles on the floor — and make the perfect cup of coffee. Not the one I reheat three times, but the kind you see in a commercial with swirls of cream and satisfaction. I sip it while it’s still hot. I know. Wild.
Breakfast? Something adorable like a rainbow smoothie bowl or pancakes shaped like hearts. In reality, it’s probably half a bowl of Froot Loops, but hey — dream big.
The rest of the day is filled with me time. I go for a walk and don’t get sweaty. I wear something cute and no one asks, “What are you so dressed up for?” I browse Hobby Lobby without spending $86.14 on things I didn’t plan to buy. I even leave the house on time. Again, fantasy.
Lunchtime? Charcuterie. Not Lunchables, not a sad sandwich standing over the sink. Actual adult grazing.
The evening? A sunset that looks like a screensaver, followed by dinner that someone else cooks. I eat it with both hands — because no one needs me mid-bite, and nothing is spilling.
I end the night in cozy pajamas that match (okay, that’s definitely fiction), watching something I’ve already seen 47 times (cue Maverick!) while doing absolutely nothing productive.
Perfection.
So yes, my idea of the perfect day is part Pinterest, part delusion, and fully fabulous. And honestly? I’m okay if it ends up a little messier, with takeout and stretchy pants. Because sometimes, real life is even better than perfect.
xo,
Natalie🩷
