🎒 What’s in My Carry-On: Beauty, Books & Bougie Snacks

Hey friends,

Let’s talk carry-ons — that magical little bag that’s part survival kit, part glam kit, and part snack bar. Whether you’re hopping on a quick flight or prepping for a long-haul adventure, having the right stuff in your carry-on makes all the difference.

After years of either overpacking or forgetting something obvious (looking at you, lip balm), I’ve finally curated my perfect go-to carry-on lineup. And because I believe every trip should feel like a treat (not a scramble), I’m sharing it with you here — Honey Without Flowers style: cozy, curated, and just a little extra.

✨ The Beauty Basics

These are my in-flight heroes — skincare first, always!

  • Hydrating Face Mist: The recycled cabin air is not your glow-up friend. I use a mini coconut mist to stay dewy.
  • Lip balm & Hand Cream: Dry lips and cracked hands? No thanks.
  • Under-Eye Patches: For overnight flights or travel days when I want to look more human upon landing.
  • Tinted Moisturizer or BB Cream: Something light, with SPF and a little glow.
  • Hair Tie & Dry Shampoo: Because turbulence and good hair rarely go together.

📚 My Go-To Books & Entertainment

Because Wi-Fi is optional but peace of mind isn’t.

  • A juicy paperback (western romance or thriller — nothing too heavy)
  • My travel journal + bag of markers (for notes, doodles, prayers, or trip thoughts)
  • Ear buds & downloaded playlists/podcasts (I have a travel vibes playlist, obviously)
  • An e-reader for longer trips — I try to load at least two new titles before takeoff

🍫 The Bougie Snacks

Airport food is pricey, and airplane snacks are tiny. I’m not taking any chances.

  • Fancy trail mix (cashews, craisins, M&Ms… yes, I make it myself)
  • Protein bar or granola bar (always)
  • Peppermints or gum for fresh breath and popping ears
  • Mini chocolate bar — because I believe in little luxuries
  • Reusable water bottle — filled post-security (hydration is queen)

👜 Travel Essentials I Never Forget

These are the must-haves I’ve learned to keep within reach:

  • Passport or ID
  • Phone + portable charger
  • Travel-size toothbrush & paste
  • Pen (for customs forms or crossword puzzles)
  • Compression socks for long flights (unsexy, but life-changing)

🧡 Why It All Matters

Packing a thoughtful carry-on is more than just being prepared — it’s about creating a little comfort bubble in the middle of the chaos that is modern travel. When I’m cozy, entertained, and nourished, I actually enjoy the journey — not just the destination.

✈️ What About You?

What’s your can’t-fly-without-it item? I’m always looking to upgrade my carry-on experience, so share your faves in the comments — or tag me on Instagram @honeyWOflowers if you use this list on your next trip!
