Hey y’all! 2018 is over and done! And all I have to say is “Bye Felicia!” Dang…it was a rough one. So many changes, setbacks, and it just seemed to fly by without anything to show for it.
I mean I had set so many goals and made so many plans at the beginning of 2018 that just didn’t seem to pan out. But on the other hand I managed to pack up our entire lives, move halfway across the country once again, maneuver through my husband’s military retirement and come out alive!
So with the new year here and still fueled from coming out alive, I thought I’d set a few new resolutions.
I’m all about making goals and try not to set unrealistic ideals for myself and the year ahead…you know be more intentional.
Resolutions filled with more things that bring me and mine more joy.
I thought I would share them with y’all– please let me know yours in the comments!
Read more! I love to read…okay, okay I love to listen to books while I follow along with a hard copy. Is that weird?
I truly believe that there’s no better way to spend your day than nose deep into a really good book. Whether it’s for pure enjoyment or learning from others failures and successes a book can change your life. And it doesn’t matter…fiction or non-fiction…they all have value.
I usually have more than one book going at a time. For fiction I tend to go towards the mystery series. Right now I’m “reading” from the Oxford Tearoom Series. I totally get invested in the characters which is super fun. And for my personal development I just started Mastering Your Mean Girl and I recently finished Girl Wash Your Face…both I highly recommend!
If you’re like me and like to listen to your stories or maybe as a time saver, try Audible. As a matter of fact try it free for 30 days here and you’ll get 2 free audiobooks to get started.
Continuing education! As a certified personal trainer I’m technically required to stay current with my certification by taking additional courses to keep up to date on newer information. This year it’s even more important because I’ll be taking my fitness biz to a whole new level in 2019!
Online clients! Yes y’all! I’m taking the plunge. Although I’ll continue to partner with a popular fitness company, 2019 will be the beginning of building my own personal fitness brand that I hope will grow to a fully functional, successful fitness biz! I’m seriously comin’ for you!
Be positive and stress less! I’ve always been a very positive person, as a matter of fact my MIL once accused me of being too positive. Like what? But sometimes I let things get me down if they don’t go the way I expect, take too long, or are just plain uncomfortable. So I really want to be better at letting things roll off my back a little more often. Sometimes it’s best to gain a little perspective before worrying so much.
Take better care of my body! We’ve only got one body y’all so we really need to take care of it. And let’s face it…I’m not getting any younger. I’ve already started getting back to weightlifting which I absolutely adore but bleh the dang cardio…it just sucks. But I know that I need to be kind to my body and it requires adequate nutrition, water, AND exercise. Lately I’ve been really good at talking the talk but not walking the walk. It’s time to stop running my mouth and just start running. (See what I did there??)
Take care of my mind! There is so much more to your health than just your body. Mental health is equally as important as staying physically healthy. It must be made a priority. My goals will never be met if I’m not at my best mentally. I want to be kinder to myself. Give myself grace.
Rest and recharge…mind and body!!
Practice gratitude daily! We all have so much to be grateful for. Heck, we should just be grateful that we woke up this morning. A lot of times I find myself being grateful for the bigger things in life but I tend to forget about the smaller things. I want to focus more on the little things…this year I want to be grateful for ALL the things! How will I be more intentional?? You ask. I’m using the Start Today Journal by the Hollis Co. Not only is it a way to keep my goals in check it’s also a really great way to practice gratitude…big & little.
Blog more! I really…I mean really enjoy blogging. I totally dropped the ball in 2018 but I want to grow Whipped Cream & Caviar Dreams to one of the “go to” blogs for 2019.
I can probably think of many more resolutions for this year but I think it’s best to focus on the short list and if others fall into place well that’s just the cherry on top!
Happy New Year Y’all!
Many blessings for a HEALTHY & HAPPY 2019!
